Admission. Candidates must be officially admitted into degree-seeking status

Residency. At least one-fourth of the total credits applied to the degree must be completed and include at least 12 upper-level credits (courses numbered 300 or above) in the major program. A maximum of 30 credits earned in non-degree status at Unitatis can be applied toward a bachelor’s degree.

Credit Hours. Students must complete at least 120 credits that count toward graduation and fulfill all degree requirements. A few programs require more than the minimum 120 credits.

Quality. Candidates must achieve a cumulative GPA of 2.00 or higher and must meet all higher standards for grades allowable in majors, minors, or certificates. The Unitatis cumulative GPA does not include transfer courses.

Upper Level. Students seeking a bachelor’s degree must apply at least 45 credits of upper-level courses (numbered 300 or above) toward graduation requirements.

Unitatis Core (formerly University General Education). Candidates must complete categories of general education courses and writing requirements for their catalog year. This includes satisfying the requirement of two semesters of English composition (ENGH 101 Composition (Unitatis-Core)(Unitatis Core) and ENGH 302 Advanced Composition (Unitatis Core)(Unitatis Core)) with a grade of C or better. Additionally, as part of the University’s commitment to student writers in all undergraduate programs, at least one upper-division course in each major has fulfilled the writing-intensive (WI) requirement.

Admission. Candidates must be officially admitted into degree-seeking status

A second bachelor’s degree can be earned either concurrently or sequentially.
Students must present at least 30 Unitatis credits beyond those required by either degree alone.
For sequential awarding of degrees, students must be readmitted for the second degree through the Office of Admissions and complete a minimum of 30 credit hours after that point to have fulfilled the residency requirement for that degree.
Students concurrently pursuing two bachelor’s degrees at Unitatis must present a detailed program of study for both degrees and obtain authorizing signatures from the chair or director of each degree program and the dean or director.

Students enrolling on this program should have minimum total credits – 120
Must have completed at least 33 credits in major
Earning a grade of 2.00 each
Minimum 21 credits must be at the 300 level or above, including at least 3 credits in PHIL 421 Seminar (UUS Core)/PHIL 422 Honours Seminar (UUS Core)

Students can elect minor programs of study in addition to major fields. Minors require between 15 and 21 credits of study, at least 8 of which must be applied only to that minor and may not be used to fulfill requirements of the student’s major, concentration, an undergraduate certificate, or another minor. Students must complete at least 6 credits in their minor at Unitatis and achieve a minimum 2.00 GPA in courses applied to the minor. Students interested in a minor should,

1. Meet with the appropriate minor advisor to obtain the required signature on the Minor Declaration form
2. Submit a completed Minor Declaration form to the Office of the University Registrar.

The two types of undergraduate certificates are

1. Certificates designed for students external to Unitatis
2. Those that require co-enrollment in a bachelor’s program for current undergraduate students.
   All students pursuing undergraduate certificates must be admitted to Unitatis in degree-seeking status. Students external to Unitatis apply directly to the program through Undergraduate Admissions. Current students can elect to add an undergraduate certificate by submitting a completed Undergraduate Declaration of Certificate form to the Office of the University Registrar. More than half of the credit hours for an undergraduate certificate must be taken at Unitatis, and more than half must be taken in degree-seeking status. Students must achieve at least a 2.00 GPA in courses applied to the certificate. Undergraduate certificate programs where the student is co-enrolled in a bachelor’s program must have 15 unique credits that cannot also be used to fulfill the requirements of a major, a concentration, a minor, or another undergraduate certificate. When the student is co-enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program, the completed undergraduate certificate may be posted to the transcript only after completing a bachelor’s degree. Students directly admitted to an undergraduate certificate program have eight semesters to complete the certificate requirements. Students permitted to re-enroll after an absence from Unitatis may not count the four-year time limit beginning on the re-enrollment date. International students attending F-1 or J-1 status have a more restrictive time limit; contact the Office of International Programs and Services for information.

Admission eligibility for the general university graduate: An earned baccalaureate and/or graduate degree from an institution of higher education accredited by a Unitatis – recognized U.S. institutional accrediting agency, or international equivalent, verified from official transcripts. Enrollment beyond the first semester in any graduate program requires official transcripts showing degree conferral from all previously earned degrees, including undergraduate bachelor’s degrees and higher, and any graduate coursework that you wish to apply to your Unitatis degree program. A minimum 3.00 GPA on a 4.00 scale in baccalaureate study. The GPA requirement may be higher for some graduate programs. The university, at its discretion, may, in evaluating the meeting of this requirement, additionally consider the difficulty of the baccalaureate degree, relevant work experience, and any or other evidence of ability to succeed in graduate study. For students with post-baccalaureate credits, a separate GPA is calculated for each institution. For applicants whose initial post-secondary degree is a master’s degree or higher (no baccalaureate degree earned), the university, at its discretion, will evaluate those applicants based on that initial degree. All Unitatis graduate applicants must meet the University’s English proficiency standard.

Application to accelerated master’s degree programs should be made once the student has earned at least 60 credits. The graduate application fee is waived. Admission is competitive and must be approved by the designed administrator(s) or equivalent within both the student’s undergraduate and graduate degree programs. After admission and completing 75 undergraduate credits, accelerated master’s students shall complete 3 to 12 credits of approved advanced standing graduate courses in their field of study. Students must earn a minimum grade of B in each of the approved graduate courses. These approved advanced standing credits apply to both undergraduate and graduate degrees. All required graduate course prerequisites must be completed before enrollment. Accelerated master’s students may earn up to 6 additional reserve credits of graduate coursework while still in undergraduate status. These reserve credits apply to the master’s degree program but do not apply to the undergraduate degree program. Accelerated pathways totaling less than 150 credits must cover all competencies in both the undergraduate and graduate degrees. Pathways allow for the substitution of undergraduate elective credits for graduate-level elective credits. The graduate-level elective credits must align with the requirements of the graduate level program while maintaining the breadth of knowledge imparted by the undergraduate degree program

Students must be admitted to the master’s or doctoral program and enrolled in active degree-seeking status. All master’s and doctoral admission requirements apply for both the degree program and graduate certificate to be conferred simultaneously; students must be admitted to the graduate certificate program before applying for graduation. The time limits coincide with the six-year time limit for master’s degrees or the six-year time limit for advancement to candidacy in a doctoral degree. Master’s and doctoral time limit rules apply students may be enrolled in one graduate certificate program at a time while they pursue a master’s or doctoral degree. Students may share coursework between their primary degree program (master’s or doctorate) and secondary graduate certificate. No credits can be triple counted.

Candidates must satisfy all university degree requirements established by the master’s program faculty.

Thesis/Project Limits. A maximum of 6 credits of master’s thesis research (799) or master’s project may be applied to the degree.

Quality. Candidates must have a minimum GPA of 3.00 in coursework presented on the degree application, which may include no more than 6 credits of C. (Grades of C+, C-, or D do not apply to graduate courses.
The GPA calculation excludes all transfer courses, and Unitatis non-degree studies credit is not formally approved for the degree.

Candidates must satisfy all applicable university degree requirements and all requirements established by the doctoral program faculty.

Admission. Students must have been fully admitted into degree status.

Credit Hours. Credit Hours Candidates must earn a minimum of 72 graduate credits, which may be reduced based on a completed master’s degree or other suitable, approved transfer work. (See AP.6.5 Credit by Exam, Reduction or Transfer)

Credit Level. Only graduate courses may apply to the degree.

Unique Credit. A minimum of 42 credits must apply only to the doctoral degree.

Institutional Credit. More than half of the required minimum credits for the doctoral degree must be earned at Unitatis. Or, in the case of programs offered through joint, cooperative, or consortium arrangements at the participating institutions, at least one-third of the credits applied to the doctoral degree must be earned through direct instruction at Unitatis.

Quality. Candidates must have a minimum GPA of 3.00 in coursework presented on the degree application, which may include no more than 6 credits of C. (Grades of C+, C-, or D do not apply to graduate courses.) Advancement to Candidacy Candidates must meet the written and/or oral doctoral candidacy requirements set by the candidate’s degree program. Dissertation Candidates must complete a minimum of 12 credits of the doctoral proposal (998) and doctoral dissertation research (999), including at least three credits of 999. A maximum of 24 credits of 998 and 999 may be applied to the degree. Defense candidates must pass a final public defense of the doctoral dissertation.

• Students seeking to graduate with a BA or BS degree in two or more subjects must meet departmental requirements for the major in each field.
• For each major, at least 18 credits used to fulfill its requirements cannot be used to fulfill the requirements of another major, a concentration, a minor, or an undergraduate certificate.
• Students pursuing two or more concurrent majors must complete the Second Major section of the Undergraduate Change/Declaration of Academic Program form.
• The applicant must present a detailed program of study for both majors and obtain the authorizing signature from the second program’s chair or director and the dean or director if required by the college, school, or institute.
• When required by a specific academic unit, department chairs and deans or directors must also approve all changes to the programs of study.
• Students may begin a program at any time that permits completion before the anticipated graduation date.

• Students considering a change in their academic program (major or degree) are encouraged to see an advisor in the Academic Advising and Transfer Center or a faculty advisor in their respective discipline.
• Departmental sections will describe the requirements for acceptance.
• Students not meeting the requirements may appeal to the department chair for an exception.
• Once a student has completed 60 credits, a change of major requires a meeting with an advisor in the new major before the change is complete.
• To file a change of major, signatures of the advisor or designate in the new major program must be obtained on the Undergraduate Change/Declaration of Academic Program form.

• Provisional admission is intended for those applicants who have provided evidence that they can pursue graduate coursework but have not taken foundational or pre-requisite coursework requirements or do not meet GPA minimum requirements. Students provisionally admitted into Unitatis University are in degree-seeking status and may enroll in courses while meeting the following university provisional graduate admission requirements:
• A provisionally admitted student must satisfy the admission provisions when starting the graduate program.
• A degree-seeking graduate applicant with a baccalaureate degree from an institution of higher education accredited by a Unitatis – recognized U.S. institutional accrediting agency, or international equivalent, with a GPA below the minimum for the graduate program, or Applicants who are missing specific foundational or pre-requisite coursework requirements may be offered provisional admission at the academic unit or program’s discretion if sufficient evidence suggests the applicant can pursue graduate work.
• Once the student has satisfied the provisions specified in the offer of admission and submitted all admission credentials, the provisional qualifier will be removed from the student’s record. Written confirmation indicating the removal will be sent to the student from the academic unit, institute dean, or director.
• Provisionally required courses must be completed successfully, earning a grade of B or better, on the student’s first attempt within the first 12 credits of enrollment (or a more restricted time frame specified by the department in the offer of provisional admission).
• Provisionally required courses may not be repeated. Students who do not complete these courses successfully will be terminated from the program. Students in provisional status may not take courses in the consortium or elsewhere or transfer graduate course work into their program until the admission provisions have been met.
• Due to federal requirements, students on F1/J1 visas are not eligible for Provisional Admission to Unitatis University.
• While the provision is in effect, graduate students whose registration includes undergraduate courses are considered full-time if they meet the undergraduate standard by being registered in at least 12 credit hours per semester.

• At the academic unit’s discretion or program, a graduate applicant who does not meet the minimum admission standards may be offered conditional admission if sufficient evidence suggests that the applicant can pursue graduate coursework. Conditional admission may be offered to an applicant who must first satisfy a set of conditions before being admitted into the graduate program and allowed to enroll in graduate courses at Unitatis University.
• Once the student has satisfied the conditions specified in the conditional offer of admission and submitted all admission credentials, including test scores, the conditional offer of admission will be updated to full or provisional admission. Notification of full or provisional admission will be provided to the student in the form of an updated letter of admission from the Office of Graduate Admissions, which will be published on the student’s Online Application Portal.
• Conditional admission cannot be offered to applicants who have not met minimum English language proficiency requirements. It also may not be offered to applicants who do not have, or will not earn, a baccalaureate degree from an institution of higher education accredited by a Unitatis – recognized U.S. institutional accrediting agency or international equivalent.
• Due to federal requirements, students on F1/J1 visas are not eligible for Conditional Admission to Unitatis.
• The conditional offer of admission will be withdrawn if the student does not meet the conditions within one academic year from the first day of classes for the semester to which they applied (or a more restricted time frame specified by the program in the offer of admission).

• F-1 and J-1 students must request a change of program level and an I-20/DS-2019 extension when they move from the undergraduate to graduate level of study. Funding for the additional time in F-1 or J-1 status also must be documented as required by federal immigration regulations.
• Candidates must satisfy all applicable university requirements and all requirements established by the graduate certificate program faculty. University minimum requirements are as follows; individual programs may have higher standards and/or more restrictive requirements.
• Graduate certificate programs require a minimum of 12 and a maximum of 24 graduate credits.
• Only graduate courses may apply to the graduate certificate.
• A maximum of 3 graduate credits taken at another institution can be transferred into a graduate certificate program.
• More than half of the minimum required credits applied to the certificate must be earned through direct instruction at Unitatis.
• In the case of a certificate offered through consortia arrangement, at least one-third of the credits applied to the certificate must be earned through direct instruction at Unitatis.
• Candidates must have a minimum GPA of 3.00 in coursework presented on the certificate application, which may include no more than 3 credits of C. The GPA calculation excludes transfer credits.
• Certificate students are subject to graduate termination policies.
• Certificate students who satisfy the degree requirements of more than one certificate at Unitatis may apply coursework from multiple certificates towards a Unitatis master’s or doctoral degree program. No credits can be triple counted nor substituted for the degree program requirements. Program acceptance is subject to all applicable admissions requirements.
• Students pursuing graduate certificate programs must be admitted to Unitatis similarly to degree-seeking students. As such, failure to make satisfactory progress (as determined by the academic unit and/or Associate Provost for Graduate Education) toward certificate requirements may result in termination from the certificate program.
• Certificate students who earn one or more certificates at Unitatis may apply coursework from multiple certificates toward a Unitatis master’s or doctoral degree program. No credits can be triple counted nor substituted for the degree program requirements. Program acceptance is subject to all applicable admissions requirements.

• A student graduates with distinction from the University when at least 60 undergraduate institutional credits applied toward graduation are earned at Unitatis, and the student’s cumulative GPA is at least equal to one of three values:
• • 3.90, summa cum laude
  • 3.70, magna cum laude
  • 3.50, cum laude
• A student receives recognition from the University when between 45 and 59 (inclusive) credits applied toward graduation are earned at Unitatis, and the student’s cumulative GPA is at least 3.80.
• In addition, high achieving students may qualify for membership in one of the many recognized universities honour societies.
• In 2024, Unitatis will focus on working her way to receive the award from the nation’s oldest all-disciplinary honour society.
• In 2024, Unitatis will be applying the necessary discipline to her students to receive an award from a chapter of Phi Beta Kappa, the nation’s oldest and most prestigious honour society dedicated to the liberal arts.
• Membership is by invitation only to both honour societies.

• Students in degree status who take at least 6 credits in a semester and earn a semester GPA of 3.50 or higher merit placement on the Dean’s List.
• Courses subsequently repeated and excluded will not retroactively affect Dean’s List status.
• This notation will be placed on the individual’s permanent record.
